It’s Monday so it’s time for our weekly #pottyadventures Instagram roundup. If you haven’t joined us before, or don’t follow us on Instagram, each week we feature eight of the best photos that we’ve been tagged in during the previous seven days. Our community welcomes any outdoor related family fun. So, whether mum is trekking across a picturesque ridge, dad is being hit square in the face by a snowball, sons and daughters are enjoying some woodland fun, or the entire gang of you are camping or visiting the local park; share your outdoor inspiration with us. Simply use the #pottyadventures hashtag on Instagram for a chance to be featured.

Our week, here at Potty Adventures HQ, has been a bit miserable. We’ve had a succession of sickness and stomach bugs nesting in the house for about three weeks and (excuse the pun) I’m sick of them! So again our outdoor time has been limited due to our collective ill health. However, feeling like I could finally be more than about 20 paces from a bathroom, I ventured out with some friends yesterday into the mountains of Snowdonia.

Anyone who read my ‘aims for 2017’ post a few weeks back will remember that, as well as continuing to organise and lead the family friendly hikes, one of my goals for this year was to also run some parent only outdoor adventures. I think, periodically, we deserve some adult only company. I know it keeps me sane now and again. There’s also the theory that by inviting parents outdoors to explore new routes, reach new heights and learn new skills, the adults will, in turn, filter these back to their own children. Consequently, it’s a win-win situation.

As such, yesterday, three of us embarked on a grown-up adventure in Snowdonia. What a day it was! A few parents from the family hiking group have been eager to try their hand at some easy scrambling routes. As the snow and most of the ice on the upper slopes had melted, it was an opportunity not to be missed. Setting off from Ogwen Cottage before first light we made our way up to the summit of Y Garn as the rising sun was creeping over the mountains. We then made our way down and then up Glyder Fawr via the monumental boulders and slabs that we scrambled over. Blessed with blue skies and bright sunshine, January days in Snowdonia don’t get much better!

As a result (and because it’s pretty much the only day I could venture out) here’s my favourite photo from our personal collection this week:

Keeping with the wintry snow theme, next we have @nacpritchard. I love this because yet again it goes to show that it is possible to get out and enjoy the outdoors in all sorts of weather with young children.  Great shot!.
