After having such a great time at last year’s festival, we’ve teamed up with the organisers of this year’s Llangollen International Eisteddfod to offer two lucky families the chance to win a Saturday family pass to Llangollen 2018.  Read on to find out how…

Llangollen Eisteddfod

Llangollen 2018 takes place 3rd – 8th July and is not to be missed.  This cultural celebration of music, song and dance has been inspiring festival goers every summer since 1947.  Events just don’t have that sort of longevity without being very special indeed, believe me!  The International Eisteddfod is a festival like no other.  Each year around 4,000 performers flock to the beautiful, small town of Llangollen in North East Wales to showcase their talents and wow audiences.  One of the most prestigious events is the renowned ‘Choir of the World’ competition.  Truly amazing groups are literally attracted to this from every corner of our planet in the hope of winning this ultimate of choir prizes.  People rave about the power of choirs on talent TV shows, such as Britain’s Got Talent.  Here’s your chance to experience the very best in the world up close!  If you like your music to move you, this is a must-see competition of the very highest calibre.

We really enjoyed the international dance competitions too last year.  The kids were enthralled by these super-talented groups, again from all over the world, dressed in traditional costumes, and performing culturally significant dances that represented their nations.  The standard of competition was so high and it was just an awesome spectacle to watch.

It was also such a nice experience for us, as a family, to be walking around the festival grounds alongside many of the performers.  It genuinely felt like a warm, culturally significant event, which celebrated our diversity through the arts of song and dance.  And yet, our whole festival day seemed uniquely Welsh too.  It’s this amalgamation of a myriad of cultures that makes this a very special day out.

Here’s a short video of our day there last year…

As you would imagine of a festival such as this, there’s a great variety of food outlets and exhibitors to complement the performances.  Last year the kids got the chance to hold an owl while they visited a birds of prey exhibition. The North Wales Owl Sanctuary will be there again this year so do make sure you go over and see these wonderful animals. Furthermore, there was a circus skills area with performers on hand to teach the kids how to juggle, walk on stilts and much, much more.  There really is something for all the family.

In addition to the family day passes, evening tickets are available for an additional cost to watch some of the biggest names in music.  This year, legends such as Van Morrison will be joined by the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs and Alfie Boe who will be performing evening concerts to captivated audiences.  (Please note: evening tickets are extra and not part of the day pass giveaway).  However, even if you’re not sticking around for the extra evening sessions, there is still a variety of acts and bands to wow you during the day.  Last year we loved the diversity of acts playing on the stages, particularly loving performances from a reggae band that played on Saturday afternoon.  This year, there will also be an array of live music for you to experience during the day, from reggae and jazz bands to samba groups and local singer-songwriters.

So, if all of this sounds appealing, how would you like to win one of two daytime family passes for the Saturday?  Yes, each pass allows entry for two adults and three children, meaning you can have a great day out together.  All you have to do is click on the link below and enter your details to confirm your entry, and then tag a friend or family in the comments on our Facebook post about the ticket giveaway to give them a chance of winning the second family pass.  Entries close at midnight on 15th June.  Winners will be randomly selected using Rafflecopters online raffle generator.  Very best of luck!
